Oak and Silk by ColeV Oak and Silk by ColeV
My completed 1780s stays. I still need to get better pictures. Made from a cream silk weave and two layers of heavy unbleached linen. The lining is loose bleached linen. Boning is white oak and spring steel (for the tabs). All stitching is done by hand in linen thread. The binding and front lacing is silk satin ribbon. I have a full discussion of their construction on my blog: [link]

Shazam! they are done! super cool. How's the fit? is it the way you wanted it?

Does the lacing at the front actually open at all or is that purely decorative?

They fit perfectly! Couldn't be more comfortable. The front opens, but doesn't really do much. Mainly aesthetic (unless you need to "heave" more as Mark puts it).

Haha, great term.

I'm so glad they fit well, even thinking about really well fitted stays must makes me happy.

Thank you! It's actually extremely comfortable! Standing for long periods of time it supports the back (great for back issues). My waist is actually bigger with it on (so no constriction). It only causes issues if I try to slump.
